When was the last time you moved your body?
Movement is life, and it’s crucial for your overall well-being. When was the last time you exercised or engaged in a form of movement like stretching, tai chi, or yoga? The reality check is – are you moving enough?
Why Movement is Life
Kenneth H. Cooper once said, “The reason I exercise is for the quality of life I enjoy.” This rings true for me and, likely, for you too. Staying active is not just about physical fitness; it’s about nurturing your mind, body, and spirit. Movement is life, and it’s the foundation of a healthy, fulfilling existence.
The Connection Between Movement and Health
What does being healthy mean to you? Have your self-care habits taken a backseat to other priorities? It’s time to reignite your commitment to your body. Without regular movement, the aging process can accelerate. Movement is life, and studies show that exercise can slow down aging, making it a cornerstone of holistic health, wellness, and beauty.
Finding Joy in Movement
Your exercise routine doesn’t have to be the same as it was a decade ago. It’s normal for energy levels and interests to change. Honor these changes and explore new ways to stay active. Whether it’s walking, yoga, or tai chi, find what brings you joy because movement is life and should be an enjoyable part of your day.
Movement is Life: The Everyday Practices
Movement is life isn’t just about formal exercise; it’s a way of living. Our bodies were designed to move. Walk more, take the stairs, and step away from your desk regularly. These small actions add up to significant health benefits. Indeed, you can count walking to the store and back. Why not? I get thousands of enjoyable steps daily by not driving. Remember also that text neck is real – put down your devices and get moving because movement is life.
The Power of Staying Active
If you’re over 50, staying fit may look different than it did in your 30s, but that’s okay. Who cares – get past this mindset. Embrace the changes and keep moving. Movement is life, and regular activity enhances your mood, boosts brain health, and keeps you feeling youthful.
But…but what if
Honor your body’s changes that have occurred through the decades. You can adapt, adjust, and try new ways to get moving. And still have a blast. Exercise provides so many health benefits that you can even think of. Movement is life!
And, what if you don’t like to jog or run anymore? Then don’t run! But be sure to still exercise in some way regularly. You must care for your body just as you care about your business or your home. Make sure to schedule your exercise time and prioritize this. Go for 30 minutes of exercise a day to live healthier and happier. Try to maximize getting in the 10,000 steps a day.
What do I mean when I say, movement and movement is life?
To move is to go in a specified direction or manner – to change position. It’s a physical activity. The same as exercise is an activity of movement, exertion, and effort.
Your motion does not have to be the official exercise we have come to know – unless you prefer that style. Exercise is from modern times. And movement is from ancient times.
Movement is life. Just think of how our bodies were designed to move. Get creative.
You need to take care of your body and mind
There’s no room for negotiation. It’s a must. When you’re in good health, then many positive things in your life cascade from this.
Mobility is a vital aspect of being healthy. Keeping active and using your body will in turn enhance your mood. I know you can find joy in this.
My message is to keep moving forward with your body and this will impact your mind. There’s a ton of research and proof now showing the huge benefits that regular exercise has on your brain health.
